Princeton Fire Department
The Princeton Fire Department (PFD) serves the residents and businesses of Princeton Borogh and Princeton Township.   The Princeton Fire Department is 100% volunteer, and has been since 1788.   We respond to roughly 700 calls a year, ranging from false alarms to structure fires, automobile accidents and hazardous materials spills—and everything in between.   We do not provide ambulance service or respond to medical emergencies.

We have three fire stations, one each on Witherspoon Street, Chestnut Street, and Harrison Street.
Our volunteers love this work for a lot of reasons, but we all agree that it gives us a terrific challenge, a nice change of pace from our full-time work or studies, and friendships with a great group of people.   Members develop valuable practical and leadership skills while serving Princeton in an important way.   All members must complete The Fire Fighter I and other NJ State mandated training. Additionally the Princeton Fire Department has minimum training requirements that exceed the NJ State requirements; all to be taken within a reasonable time of joining the department.

Please look through our site and consider joining us.   If you’re ready to learn, work hard and help others, this is the perfect opportunity for you!   All sorts of people make our department run.   Men and women of all ages and professions.   There are many opportunities to work on planning and running the department, doing fire safety education and, yes, giving kids tours of the fire trucks!   Let us know you’re interested (email: mfreda@princetonboro.org).   We’ll send you an application and contact you to schedule a station visit so that you can find out more.   Feel free to contact us with any questions.
